WOOD MILLING SPINDLES FROM GAMFIOR, S.P.A.

Precision Technologies, a unit of SKF USA Inc.,
is pleased to announce an enhanced product offering
that makes Gamfior high-frequency precision machine
tool spindles available for sale and service in the
United States. SKF Precision Technologies is now able
to extend Gamfior's particular areas of technical
expertise to American manufacturers through SKF, since
both companies are part of SKF's global spindle manufacturing
network.
SKF’s
acquisition of Gamfior is part of SKF's plan to develop
its Global Spindle Network, currently one of the largest
in the world. The Network's long-term strategy
is to offer state-of-the-art spindle engineering and
design worldwide, while manufacturing and servicing
spindles locally. SKF Precision Technologies
will continue to be the North American representative
of the Network, with full access to the technical
expertise of the other branches.
Gamfior,
S.p.A., in Turin, Italy, began manufacturing spindles
for metal grinding and wood milling in the 1920s.
Since then, the company has expanded to produce custom-designed
spindles for OEM machining centers, appropriate for
working with steel, aluminum and other metals. Gamfior
grinding spindles are available in speeds from 12,000
to 260,000 RPM and reach power levels up to 14.5 kW.
Gamfior wood milling and routing spindles are available
in air and liquid-cooled versions, with speeds up
to 24,000 RPM and power levels up to 20 kW.
Gamfior
spindles are available with steel or hybrid bearings
and can be air-oil or grease lubricated. At
the customer's request, Gamfior can certify the power
values and tolerances of its high-frequency spindles.
Furthermore, Gamfior's experience in precision machine
tools allows it to custom-manufacture spindles that
meet the special requirements of its customers.
Gamfior
is also adding its Spindle Service Center to SKF's
Global Spindle Service Center Network. Just
like SKF Precision Technologies' facility in Grafton,
WI, the Gamfior center provides complete remanufacturing
services for conventional spindles and special applications.
SKF's network of Spindle Manufacturing and Spindle
Service Centers now includes facilities in Austria,
Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Sweden, the UK and the
USA.
