Crash detection system for spindles
CDS is used to monitor the machine conditions and events of spindles.
A three-axial vibration sensor measures the vibrations in the spindle head. The vibration information is grouped into 8 channels.
The spindle speed is either derived from an existing sensor or measured by an additional speed sensor and is classified into 6 channels.
Three temperature sensors measure the temperature of the two main bearings and the driving motor. For each of the 48 channels (8 vibration channels times 6 speed channels), the minimum, maximum and mean of these temperatures are stored and the time of working under these conditions is summed up.
In addition, events with the maximum temperature, vibration or speed results are logged with a time stamp for later analysis in case of a spindle damage.
